Sherry StatmanSherry Statman Prior to joining Rosenthal & Watson, P.C., Sherry Statman was a Senior Litigation Attorney with the Texas Medical Board, where she served for five years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in that arena. While serving as a lead attorney at the Texas Medical Board, Ms. Statman represented the State of Texas - in connection with complaints against physicians -- at informal show compliance hearings and mediations, as well as at contested case hearings before the State Office of Administrative Hearings. Prior to her service with the Texas Medical Board, Ms. Statman was as a prosecutor at the Travis County Attorney's Office and a municipal court prosecutor with the Austin City Attorney's office. In addition to her role as an attorney with Rosenthal & Watson, P.C., Ms. Statman currently serves as a substitute judge for the City of Austin Municipal Court.

Ms. Statman received a B.A. in English Writing and Rhetoric with honors from St. Edward's University in 1995 and a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1998. Ms. Statman has been involved with local legal groups including Volunteer Legal Services, the Travis County Women Lawyer's Association and Austin Young Lawyers Association.

Sherry Statman's practice concentrates on representing physicians before the Texas Medical Board. Ms. Statman also represents nurses, dentists and other health care providers in matters concerning State board investigations and complaints regarding licensure matters.

Marc RosenthalMarc Rosenthal is one of the founding shareholders of Rosenthal & Watson, P.C. Mr. Rosenthal graduated in the top five percent of his class from the South Texas College of Law, where he successfully competed in the law school's mock trial program and where he received American Jurisprudence awards in Tort Law, Real Property Law, Civil Procedure, Civil and Political Rights, Criminal Law, and Professional Responsibility. After receiving the highest bar exam score in Texas, in 1988, Mr. Rosenthal began his legal career as a litigator in the Houston office of Weil, Gotchal & Manges - - a New York-based law firm - - representing Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Rosenthal moved to Austin in 1990 and began a general civil practice. Mr. Rosenthal has successfully tried numerous cases for plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Rosenthal has been trial counsel in several cases which have resulted in record-breaking jury verdicts. Mr. Rosenthal has represented numerous doctors in the Austin and Houston areas in connection with business transactions and personal matters.

Lynn WatsonLynn Watson, another of the firm's shareholders, also brings special skills and talents to the firm's team. Ms. Watson received her B.A. from Trinity University in 1988, graduating cum laude with a double major and with special University honors. She received her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 1991, and she has been practicing law with Marc Rosenthal in the areas of personal injury and civil litigation since then. In addition to supervising several of the firm's departments, Ms. Watson has handled hundreds of personal injury cases, including jury trials, bench trials, and mediations, with excellent success.

Extensive knowledge of the various licensing boards' policies, rules and procedures (culled from the experience of working closely with various licensing board staff and board members), as well as extensive and varied litigation experience, gives Rosenthal & Watson, P.C. an edge over other law firms in the arena of practice involving the professional licensing boards. Rosenthal & Watson, P.C. brings both timely and intimate knowledge of the various licensing boards and their processes concerning physicians, psychologists, and other health care professionals under pending complaint, investigation, and prosecution.

Senator Carlos I. UrestiSenator Carlos I. Uresti recently joined Rosenthal & Watson as an attorney who is of counsel to the law firm. Senator Uresti has been a long-time advocate for the rights of physicians in the State of Texas.

Senator Uresti is a Texas native, born and raised in San Antonio, and the youngest of eight children. After graduating from McCollum High School, Senator Uresti enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves at the age of 18 as a Private First Class. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Teaching Certificate from St. Mary's University and was then commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Serving on active duty for four years as a combat engineer, Senator Uresti rose to the rank of Captain and earned the Navy Achievement Medal. Since graduating from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1992, he has practiced law in San Antonio, where he maintains a private practice, and he recently joined Rosenthal & Watson, P.C. in the capacity of counsel. He also is employed with United Title as a Senior Vice President. Elected to the Texas House of Representatives in a special election in June 1997, Senator Uresti served in the House for nine years. He was the chairman of the Committee on Government Reform during the 79th Legislature, and the chairman of the Committee on Human Services during the 78th Legislature. Devoted to fighting child abuse and neglect, Senator Uresti led the charge to reform the State's Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) during the interim of the 78th Legislature. He continues to be a statewide leader advocating for the children and elderly of Texas. Long active in his community, Senator Uresti is the Founding Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Task Force, a coalition bringing together hundreds of community members and leaders to fight the causes of child abuse and neglect. Concerned with veterans' issues, Senator Uresti also formed the Bexar County Veterans' Coalition. He is a member of VFW Post 9186, the United States Marine Corps League, and the Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Association. He has worked diligently on economic development for his senatorial district, including the Toyota plant, Brooks City Base, and the Texas A&M campus in South San Antonio. Senator Uresti has received numerous awards, including five Legislator of the Year awards for his efforts to fight child abuse. Senator Uresti's service during the 80th Legislative Session included Committee Memberships for Administration (Vice-Chair); Health and Human Services; International Relations & Trade; and Natural Resources as well as service on the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs & Costal Resources, and the Joint Committee on Oversight of Edwards Aquifer. He is currently a State Senator whose senatorial district is the largest in Texas.
